Had a blast! Was down to $24 and decided to stay for one more race. $6 on 4 different horses to win. One horse fell and dropped the jockey. Hoping they all recuperate quickly. One of our picks won, so we left with $75. We'll be back for Family Night with the petting zoo.
We always have a good time at Retama! It's a neet experience to see all the horses and the racing is fun. We go a couple of times a year.
It's ok to watch the races and food isn't bad they allow smoking in the building so you can definitely smell it everywhere
Drove from Austin for live racing. Website said 2017 racing was Sept 1 through nov 25. No live racing said it ended on 11th! Guy at gate said we should have checked the event schedule on the website. Link to event calendar does not work. Takes you to a fake domain address. The schedule should be more clear!
Parking is great with no charge. However, it took 15 minutes to get through the admission gate and then it seemed they were unprepared for the large crowd. Ten to 15 minute lines to get a coke or beer. The betting lines were extremely long as well. If they are going to draw large crowds they should be better prepared but we still had a good time.
